Five scene findings flag kids needing blood
Retrospective national trauma registry analysis testing five EMS-observable findings for spotting injured children who need early blood — altered GCS (aOR 8.38), penetrating mechanism (aOR 5.87) and age-adjusted hypotension (aOR 5.39) led, and a three-tier decision tree put 36.8% of early transfusions into just 3.3% of kids.

Ditch lights and sirens for fall-alarm calls
Before-after study switching medical-alert (PERS) activations to non-lights-and-siren dispatch — L&S response fell from 98% to 12% of calls and response-phase L&S hours dropped 86%, with only 0.2% of calls later needing an upgrade to L&S transport.

Rural self-harm deaths before ambulance arrival
An Iranian cross-sectional study of 2,280 EMS-attended self-directed violence cases found 5.4% died before EMS arrival, with higher odds in rural locations (aOR 2.08), older patients (aOR 1.03/year) and morning calls (aOR 2.14 vs evening).
