Mild hypercapnia during ECPR in pigs
Porcine refractory-VF arrest model (n=12) testing mild hypercapnia (PaCO2 50-55 mmHg) during ECPR — the hypercapnia group showed higher cerebral glucose (p=0.01) and lower caspase-8 expression, but no significant difference in brain tissue oxygen tension (49.9 vs 36.4 mmHg, p=0.13), intracranial pressure, EEG activity or serum brain-injury biomarkers.
